Safety Officer Course: How Much Do Qualified Safety Officers Earn?

Before entering a career field, it is understandable that you may have a few concerns about how much you would earn and what is to be expected from you. This is especially true when the industry requires employees to have studied the relevant courses and obtained the correct certifications. These requirements take time and money; therefore, you may be curious about the rewards after committing to entering the industry.

In 2023, the average salary for safety officers is R195 239 per year (R16 269,92 per month). Bonuses are generally included in their salaries, but this will, of course, depend on their employer.

Depending on where you work as a safety officer, you can expect a bonus of anywhere between R3 000 to R49 000 per year. Some safety officers also receive a commission, which can be between R0 - R17 000 per year.

The amount of money that a safety officer receives will also depend on the qualifications obtained. For example, a postgraduate degree in the field may lead to a higher compensation package, whereas your salary may be slightly lower if you only have an undergraduate degree. Therefore, a degree can drastically impact the level of pay you would receive.
