Fire Officer 1 (FO)
What is the Fire Officer 1 Course?
The Fire Officer 1 (NFPA 1021) training course equips experienced firefighters with the foundational leadership, supervisory, and management skills required to function effectively as a first-line fire officer. The course is aligned with NFPA 1021: Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications and focuses on the roles and responsibilities of a Fire Officer I, including crew supervision, operational readiness, incident scene management, and administrative duties within a fire service organization.
Through a combination of classroom-based learning and practical scenario-based exercises, learners will develop competence in leading fire crews, implementing standard operating procedures, managing emergency incidents, conducting inspections, delivering training, and maintaining safety and discipline on the fireground. Emphasis is placed on decision-making, communication, risk management, and ethical leadership to ensure effective command and control during emergency and non-emergency operations.
This course is ideal for firefighters preparing for promotion, newly appointed fire officers, and emergency services personnel who require certification or formal training to perform supervisory roles within the fire service.
